Paraxylene and Benzene are the main products from our Aromatics Plant, other by products are produced as well; such as Light Straight Run Naphtha, LPG, Raffinate and Heavy Aromatic.

Aromatics products form important raw materials to produce a variety of consumer goods, and are used either as finished products or as intermediates for further downstream processing or blending purposes.

Paraxylene is the basic raw material in the manufacture of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and di-methyl-terephthalate (DMT). PTA and DMT in turn are used to produce poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) and a variety of polyesters and polymers.

Polyesters go into the making of yarn, fibres and films. PET has good carbon dioxide barrier properties, which is why PET bottles are used to package carbonated beverages. In addition, they are light-weight, shatter-resistant and possess high tensile strength.

Benzene is a basic chemical for the manufacture of a wide range of intermediate products. Cyclo-hexane, made from benzene, is used to make nylon. Benzene is also utilised to make ethyl benzene styrene monomer, a key ingredient in the manufacture of polystyrene and rubber products. In addition, it goes into the making of cumene and phenol to create health care products, and is a basic raw material for linear alkyl benzene, vital to the manufacture soaps and detergents.
